Tyrannosaurus Rex means tyrant lizard the king, and the name has become the most widely recognized dinosaur species around It is the only dinosaur that is commonly known to the general public by its full scientific name, and the scientific abbreviation T. rex has also come into wide usage. The first partial skeleton was discovered in 1900 in eastern Wyoming. Since then many other skeletons have been discovered, all the the western USA or Canada.
He was up to 40 feet long and 12 feet high and weighed between 11,000 and 15,500 lbs. The largest skull is about 5 ft. long. He was a bipedal (walking on two legs) carnivore (meat eater) that lived 90 to 66 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period.
