This car is a tiny three wheel car made in Germany, between 1955 and 1964. About 40,000 were produced. It had only one door which also held the transparent acrylic bubble top, the windshield and the windows. It was about 9 feet long, four feet wide, four feet tall, and weighed 507 lbs. Other unusual features included tandem seating (driver in front passenger right behind him); steering wheel like an airplane in a horizontal plane; and an unusual transmission - to go into reverse you had to stop the car and restart with the key further in the ignition switch. Messerschmidt was originally an airplane manufacturer, but were temporarily outlawed from building planes after World War II, so they turned to cars, but later returned to airplanes.
